ELKHORN, Wis. (TCD) — A 37-year-old woman and her 33-year-old husband were shot to death last week inside the sports bar where she worked.
According to the Elkhorn Police Department, on Thursday, Feb. 1, just after midnight, the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office received a call about shots fired at the Sports Page Barr. Deputies and officers responded to the scene and found a male and female deceased from gunshot wounds. Elkhorn Police later identified the victims as Emerson Weingart and Gina Weingart.
Jordan Barr posted on the Sports Page Barr’s Facebook  page, saying Gina and Emerson Weingart were regulars at the establishment before Gina Weingart started working there.
Barr wrote, “Their lives were just beginning, and I believe I speak for our entire Sports Page family by saying we are absolutely devastated by what happened. It is a despicable act of violence that has shaken all of us to our core.”
Fastcuts is located next door to Sports Page Barr, and the owner wrote on Facebook that one of the bullets “lodged in the wall of my hair salon.”
Fastcuts owner Elizabeth Krause described Elkhorn as an “idyllic” community.
Emerson Weingart’s father, Jeff Weingart, told WISN-TV, “He called me at 12:09 a.m., which is probably right before he died. And there was nobody there when I answered. I was asleep. And he called. He probably didn’t know who else to call.”
Facebook posts show Gina and Emerson Weingart wed in June 2023.
Police have not announced any arrests in connection with the case.
