Composer Lucy Simon’s death was announced by her family and they mentioned that the composer passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.
She was only the third female composer to have a production on Broadway with “The Secret Garden.” It was a musical based on the noble by Frances Hodgson Burnett and Lucy composed the music with the book and lyrics by Marsha Norman.

Lucy Simon passed away recently at the age of 82 due to her health battle with metastatic breast cancer. It is the type of breast cancer when the cancer cells spread to an area farther from the mammary glands and perform metastases.
This type of cancer is often fatal due to its uncontrollable nature. Lucy was struggling with the condition for a very long time. However, her old age has made the situation worst recently as she had to enter hospice care.
Unfortunately, the respected lady died surrounded by her family this Thursday.
Lucy Simon Celebrated Her Composing Career
Born in 1940 in New York City, Lucy Simon went on to create history when she became just the third female to have a production on Broadway. Before that, she started performing as a folk duo with her younger sister Carly Simon in 1963. They were called the Simon Sisters.
The duo released three albums together before going on their separate ways in 1960. After that, Lucy briefly left the world of entertainment and pursued a career in nursing. However, she returned to music later and released solo albums in 1975 and 1977.
Lucy Simon also won Grammys in 1981 and 1982 with her husband, David Levine, for their contributions to two “Sesame Street” albums. She also got the Tony Award and Drama Desk Award nominations for her music for the Broadway musical The Secret Garden.
