Obituary | Sheldon Martin of Ft. Yates, North Dakota

January 3, 1989 – January 20, 2023

Funeral services for Sheldon Martin, 34, of Bismarck and formerly of Ft. Yates will be at 11 AM, Saturday, February 4, 2023, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Ft. Yates. Burial will be at the church cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be 5-9 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM Friday at the church. Sheldon passed away Friday, January 20, 2023, at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck.

Sheldon William Martin was born on January 3, 1989, in Bismarck to William Martin and Beverly Stretches. He grew up in Fort Yates, ND, where he also attended elementary & middle school. 

In Sheldon’s younger years he enjoyed listening to music, fixing bikes, and  hanging out with friends. He also liked fishing, playing dominoes and playing dice.

Sheldon always looked forward to spending time with his twin sister, Sherry. He always made sure she was ok, also he would do anything to spend time with his sister and to see her smile and be happy.

In 2007 Sheldon met Ann LaFromboise and they made their home in Sisseton, SD, later in 2013 Sheldon moved to Bismarck ND until the time of his passing

Sheldon worked several jobs over the years around the Bis/Man area. 

Sheldon was quiet but friendly once you got to know him, he liked to laugh and joke around and was always willing to give a helping hand. 

Sheldon is survived by his twin sister, Sherry of Bismarck, twin siblings, Shae & Sheree Martin, mother, Beverly Stretches, sisters, Carrie Long Cloud all of Fort Yates and Kathleen Cutler of Idaho, aunts, Denise Vallanti of Grand Forks, ND, Lori & Denise Martin of Bismarck, Debra Martin of Aberdeen SD, Vera Richards of Rapid City, SD, and grandmother, Donna Martin of Montana

Proceeded in death by his father, William R. Martin, grandmother, Susan Buckley, grandparents, William & Lois Martin, aunts Ina Plante, Ramona Stretches, Judith Stretches, Donita Cutler, and Diane Martin, uncles, Robert Martin, Alan (Shank) Stretches, Eugene Stretches, Lyle Callousleg
