Okla. day care worker allegedly stuffed wet wipes in children’s mouths to make them stop crying

MOORE, Okla. (TCN) — A 25-year-old day care worker has been charged with three counts of child abuse in connection with the alleged treatment of children in her care earlier this year.

According to an affidavit filed in Cleveland County, Oklahoma, and obtained by KOCO, Samantha Pearson allegedly stuffed wet wipes into two children’s mouths to get them to stop crying while changing their diapers. This was allegedly captured on home surveillance footage at her in-home day care center in June.

In addition, Pearson could also allegedly be seen and heard slapping the children with an open hand and slamming them back onto the changing table when they tried to crawl away. The children were 3 and 4, according to the affidavit.

According to Brittany Moser-Moxley, a parent whose child attended the center but was not an alleged victim, Pearson’s alleged treatment of her son ended with her removing her son from the center, KWTV reports. Moser-Moxley alleged Pearson left her husband in charge of the children without notifying parents and said, “She texted me, told me my son was turning purple and blue.” Moser-Moxley then removed her son from the center.

According to the District 21 District Attorney’s Office, Pearson was charged with three counts of child abuse on Aug. 25 and booked into jail on $300,000 bond.
