A Florida man wanted for stabbing his father to death and also sexually abusing a minor has surrendered to authorities.
Osmin Castillo, 21, faces murder in the second degree with a weapon and a slew of other charges, including possession of child pornography. He surrendered Sunday at the Orient Jail Road, said the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in news releases.
According to a probable cause affidavit for a search warrant, Castillo returned home intoxicated on the morning of Sept. 23. He and his father, Luis Carlos Montano, 37, argued about it, and Montano told his son he was going to kick him out, authorities said.
He headed down to the landlord’s home on the street, but Castillo grabbed a knife, chased him, and stabbed him, authorities said.
Castillo allegedly walked toward his home and then ran away.
Authorities found clothes matching the suspect’s description in a trash can.
Deputies responded to the landlord’s home, where they found Montano outside and tried to save his life. First responders pronounced him dead.
Court records did not make an affidavit regarding the abuse case available. According to a news release, detectives who were investigating the murder discovered Castillo was having “a sexual relationship with a child under the age of 16.”
He is charged with murder in the second degree with a weapon, nine counts of lewd and lascivious battery, three counts of in-state transmission of child pornography by electronic device, three counts of use of a child in a sexual performance, three counts of possession of child pornography.
“Today, justice prevailed as our deputies removed another dangerous criminal from our streets,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “The arrest of this individual responsible for this homicide and these other heinous crimes serves as a testament to the dedication of our team here at the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.”
