Miami, Florida – Perez Hilton‘s mom, Teresita Lavandeira, has petitioned for temporary guardianship of her grandchildren as the blogger remains hospitalized following a self-harm incident.
According to the filing obtained by People, Lavandeira’s request was made three days after her son appeared to harm himself and was covered in blood during a TikTok livestream.
Her attorney, Natalie F. Guerra-Valdes, issued a statement on her behalf, sharing, “My main concern and objective, as well as the family’s, is to protect the children and make sure they are safe.”
The lawyer adds, “We want them to have some sense of normalcy as they begin their journey of healing after the tragic events that occurred last week.”

Per Page Six, Perez, who has been hospitalized since the incident, has “voluntarily consented” to the custody request.
The doc further reads, “I realize that by signing this document, I am consenting to the Petitioner having temporary legal custody of the minor children and that such temporary custody is in the best interest of the children.”

The celebrity blogger is the father of Mario (13), Mia (11), and Mayte (8), who were all reportedly at home at the time of the incident, along with his sister and niece.
The family members are said to have “immediately” fled the scene after it became “clear” that the gossip blogger was “experiencing a severe mental health crisis and harming himself.”
In an update released on August 6, the journalist’s loved ones thanked fans for their “prayers, kind messages, and support” while also asking for “understanding and grace” as they continue to share updates on Perez’s recovery.
