PHILADELPHIA (TCN) — Police have identified the man suspected of recently threatening multiple people while wearing a mask depicting Chucky from the “Child’s Play” horror movie franchise.
On Aug. 12, the suspect allegedly approached multiple people while wearing the mask and filmed himself antagonizing people, including a group of runners. He allegedly asked one woman if she was ready to die and was last seen entering a public transit station.
According to Philadelphia Police Capt. Jason Smith, a woman injured her leg while running from the suspect, WPVI reports. Smith said, “It’s going to require extensive medical treatment, from what I understand, in order to treat the injuries that she has sustained.”
Police released photos of the suspect and asked for the public’s help in identifying him.
On Aug. 20, Philadelphia Police announced they identified the suspect as 22-year-old Zymire Hughes and that an arrest warrant for him is active. The New York Post reports that once apprehended, Hughes faces charges of terroristic threats, harassment, assault, reckless endangerment, and intimidation.
Police believe Hughes might have fled the state. He reportedly has ties to California and Nevada.
Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner told NBC News, “He’s a punk. I mean, that’s the bottom line. He’s a punk who scared a lot of people for no good reason, and we’re not going to tolerate it.”
