Riley Burruss is opening up about her mom Kandi Burruss’ divorce from her stepdad, Todd Tucker. The Next Gen NYC cast member admitted that the divorce, which was announced in November 2025, had a huge impact on her life as they navigated it as a family.

Riley appeared on the SiriusXM radio show, TODAY on Sirius, recently, where she opened up about just how much the divorce impacted her. “I will say that yes, a divorce happens between two people, but it affects more than just those two people,” she explained in a clip posted to Instagram. “So, it is really hard for me.”Â
The NYU graduate continued, sharing how it shaped her time on Next Gen NYC Season 2. “I had a hard time recently, and during filming I had a hard time as well, ’cause that’s when I first learned about everything. So it’s just been a year of adapting.”
“It’s tough at times, it’s easy at times, it’s confusing, I’m still learning, honestly,” she concluded.

Riley admitted on the radio show that she learned new things from watching her mom go through the divorce from Todd, who she was married to for more than a decade. “I’ve learned from my mom that there are a lot of things that she protects in herself how strong she is, how courageous, because all of the stuff I didn’t even know,” she said of The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum.
“She wants to protect me the most she can,” she added. “So being able to do that for your children, I think is just a powerful thing.”

Kandi Burruss reflects on her marriage to Todd Tucker months after split
Kandi spoke with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in May, where she admitted that she had no regrets from her marriage to Todd. After all, it brought her the birth of their two kids, 10-year-old son, Ace Tucker, and 6-year-old daughter, Blaze Tucker.
“I don’t have no regrets about my marriage,” she admitted. “I feel like we had a good marriage. It was great while it was great. I don’t have any negative thing to say about my marriage or Todd, really. I just feel like it didn’t work.”
