Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie shared a devastating message nine months after her mother, Nancy Guthrie, was abducted from her Tucson, Arizona, home.
On Sunday, November 1, Savannah took to Instagram with a carousel of photos and an emotional declaration.
“Found this old drawing from my daughter today. It says so much about how I feel,” Savannah began her post, which featured a drawing of rain and an umbrella with the following text, “I know it might not seem like it but I really need my mommy.”
The NBC journalist continued, “The world goes on, things appear ‘normal’ — as we try to keep going and be strong, especially for our young kids — but it’s not and it never will be. For Annie and Tommy, for Cam and Kristine, for Mike and me and for all of mom’s beloved grandchildren: we ache for her, we cry out for answers, we cannot move forward.”
She then pleaded, “We need someone to help us, tell us what you know. Our mom was a light in this world. We want to celebrate her and give her the dignity she deserves. The reward is still available. Please. We are begging you. Please help us.
To conclude her post, Savannah shared, “Thank you to all those who have been kind and shown the best of humanity. Join us in praying without ceasing.”
Nancy was last seen at her Catalina Foothills home on the evening of January 31; her family reported her missing on February 1. Although investigators have released photos and video clips of a masked suspect on her front porch and published alleged ransom notes — on top of Savannah offering a $1 million reward — no suspect has been named in the case.
