“When we sold the Beverly Hills house, we bought our [L.A.] penthouse, rented another apartment in our building, and just thought we’d figure it out,” she explained to producers during RHOC’s Sept. 17 episode. “When our lease was coming to an end, Terry and I talked about it, and decided we were done with homes. So, I bought the penthouse below us.”

As Heather showed the renovation plans for her apartment to her castmates Carmella Garcia, Tamra Judge and Gina Kirschenheiter, she shared the square footage of both penthouses combined will total “a little under 11,000 total.”

“We spent about $14 million on the apartment, and honestly, we actually paid more for this apartment than it was worth,” she added in her confessional interview. “But the proximity to our other apartment made us go, ‘Okay.’ You know, in the long run, does it really matter? No.”

Heather Dubrow details her $2 million renovation on her new penthouse

During the Sept. 17 episode, Heather and Terry gave Heather’s mom, Carole, a tour of the new penthouse. “We’re ripping up everything,” Heather told her mom.

Heather shared during The Real Housewives of Orange County After Show how the two apartments will be connected. “I’m not even combining them. It’s sort of hard to explain…I basically have a private elevator between my two floors,” she said.

When asked by producers if Terry “gave her a budget,” Heather jokingly replied: “Terry doesn’t know what things cost.” Then, she detailed how much she believed renovations would cost. “I’d like to do a $2 million remodel, but I’m sure it’ll balloon up a little. But, you know, we’re going to be there for a long time, so, it should be fabulous,” she said.

Heather shared more of her plans for the new space with her mom and Terry. “I have this vision of this champagne corridor,” she said, which she described as champagne bottles lining the walls. “And it’ll be lit up,” she continued, “And then I’m going to do a piano.”

Heather also opened up more about the decor “vibes” she was going for as she renovates the second penthouse. “It’s very different for me. There’s more color in it. There’s a lot of burgundy in this,” she said on the After Show. “It’s really sexy. There’s wood, there’s burgundy, there’s a lot of mixed material.”

While Heather is busy renovating her newest penthouse, she hasn’t forgotten about her first, and shared during RHOC’s Sept. 17 episode that she’s not quite done renovating and decorating it just yet.

“I’m thinking about the future. I want my kids to be happy here. At the same time, I need a little space to disappear to,” she told producers. “So now that [Terry and I are] going to have our own apartment, I might re-do a little bit more for just me and Terry. For us to focus on each other.”

Although Heather revealed the penthouse was a Roberto Cavalli-designed apartment during a BravoTV.com tour, she plans to make changes. “Because it’s beautiful, but it was a bachelor that owned it,” she clarified during the After Show.

Heather has shown off the unique features of the penthouse over the years including a “hidden room” that contains wine and champagne. Her luxurious walk-in closet also contains a bold leopard print carpet.

Heather Dubrow shares why her new penthouse apartment will be her family’s “forever home”

Heather made it clear on the RHOC After Show that this is her family’s “forever home.” “I’m at this stage where even though we’ve been nomads our whole marriage, and my poor children have moved so many times, I’m tired of doing it,” she shared. “For myself. I don’t want to live in a temporary situation anymore.”

It comes after Heather and Terry sold their family’s Orange County mansion for $55 million in the fall of 2022, then sold their partially renovated Beverly Hills home for $16.5 million in August 2025.

“We’ve been looking for like, ‘Where’s the forever home?’ And I bought that house in Beverly Hills. We got screwed by the contractor. Then the fires happened and our fire insurance went through the roof. All these things. And the universe was telling us not to do that,” Heather explained on the After Show of why she was finally ready to settle down in her L.A. apartment.

She detailed the many benefits of living in a high-rise. “I live in a fortress. It is so safe and so secure,” she said. “I get the best of all worlds. I see the Hollywood sign. The city lights. And the ocean.”

Heather admitted that living on two floors in L.A. solves many of the issues she and Terry were facing with their four children as they reach adulthood. “It really feels like the kids will all end up in the L.A. area, and will need a place to come home to for at least the next 10, 15 years,” she said. “For holidays and summers and whatever. This fills all the holes. All the problems.”
