The iconic girl group shared an Instagram post on Wednesday teasing an announcement on September 10 at 10 AM ET under a clip set to their smash-hit song, Wannabe.
Immediately, fans were convinced that the surprise had to be a comeback album or even a reunion tour.
But once the countdown came to an end, it was revealed that the announcement was actually just a music re-release.

The Spice Girls have compiled all of their singles into vinyl and CD box sets that also include original artwork, demos, and B-sides.
It’s safe to say that this didn’t meet expectations – cue the millennial crashouts in the comments.

The Spice Girls sparked some similar reunion chatter earlier this year with the 30th anniversary of their musical debut.
