Los Angeles, California – Actor Dakota Johnson skyrocketed to fame after her appearance in the Fifty Shades movies. But it seems the star of Taylor Swift‘s upcoming music video for Patient Zero didn’t have to do much acting, and she thanks her upbringing for that.
“I’m a sexual person. My mom raised me to be really, really proud of my body and love my body,” the 36‑year‑old recently told The Sun, long before she linked it to her acting career:
“So I’ve always felt so grateful for that, especially in my work, because I can use it and it feels real,” Johnson explained. “I think it was the way she spoke about it with me, and she was very honest and open about body stuff.”

Johnson said her mom “also talked to me about sex and how precious and important and you know, whatever,” adding, “In my work, it’s something I feel brave with, and I feel when it’s used the right way in a story, it’s important.”
Though Johnson is set to appear in Swift’s music video for Patient Zero, which will premiere during the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night, that’s not the only screen time she has on the horizon. The upcoming film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s Verity stars Johnson as author Lowen Ashleigh.
Whether it’s on the silver screen or at home, the 36‑year‑old shows no hesitation when it comes to sex and free love, telling Deadline, “I don’t feel like there’s one right way to love, or one right way to live your life, and I think human beings are being allowed to evolve.”
“If you want to have multiple relationships in your life, great. If you want to go really deep with one person, great. If you want to have both of those at the same time, great. Why not, really,” Johnson said.
