Who was Kevin Watkins?
Kevin Watkin was a beloved and respected figure in the world of Surf Life Saving. Throughout his 55 years of dedication to the cause, it was well-deserving that he earned the title of State President. He started with a Bronze Medallion in 1967 and continued making great accomplishments such as becoming a Gold medalist on both national and state levels. It was also his honour to be chosen to compete for South Australia multiple times. The Brighton SLSC regarded him highly, which is understandable given his commendable drive and commitment to life-saving initiatives.

How did Kevin Watkins die? What was the cause of his death?
At this time it is not known what caused Kevin’s death, but the Surf Life Saving SA organization has released a statement saying that they are deeply saddened by the news of his passing. They went on to say that he will be greatly missed not only by them but also by all members of the surf lifesaving community.
Kevin Watkins Obituary
Kevin was born on August 15th, 1955 in Adelaide and spent most of his adult life serving as a dedicated member of Surf Life Saving SA. He was passionate about teaching others how to swim safely in the ocean and worked tirelessly to help ensure that all beach-goers were safe from potential harm while enjoying their time at the beach. During his career he received several awards for his dedication to surf life saving including a Bronze Medallion in 1967, which recognizes outstanding service in lifesaving activities over an extended period of time. His commitment to ensuring safe swimming practices earned him the nickname “Brakey” from those in the surf life saving community.

It is clear that Kevin “Brakey” Watkins was highly respected within both the Surf Life Saving SA organization and among its members. His passion for keeping swimmers safe was exemplary and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him or had come into contact with him during his lifetime.
