Teen Killed When Gunman Opens Fire at ATV Trail Ride – Crime Online

A Louisiana man was arrested Saturday night after he allegedly opened fire into the crowd at a large ATV trail ride in Port Hudson.

A 16-year-old boy, identified as La’Taurus Smith, was killed in the shooting. WAFB reported. Two other people were wounded.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office said it arrested Lamar Hall, 32, and that he admitted firing his weapon. Hall said there was “a large shoot-out with other unknown individuals,” deputies said.

On Sunday, Hall was booked on charges of first degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.

Arrest records show that several other unidentified people were detained for involvement in the shooting.

More than 1,000 people were on the scene for the trail ride when the shooting took place, WBRZ reported. Several people were injured running from the gunfire, the station said.

The sheriff’s office said that deputies and private security were on scene prior to the violence, but a witness said the crowd became unruly about an hour before the shooting.

Deputies said they found at least 20 spent shell casings from the scene.

Hall has been arrested at least a dozen times since 2010, on charges ranging from domestic violence to vehicle theft.
