Texas woman allegedly shot 6-year-old boy amid fight between middle school girls

SPRING, Texas (TCD) — A 34-year-old woman was arrested and charged after allegedly shooting a 6-year-old boy while two middle school girls fought near her home.

On March 2, deputies from Harris County Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to a report of a shooting on Cypresswood Green Drive. Upon their arrival, deputies reportedly learned a 6-year-old boy had been shot in the arm and thigh, and his mother brought him to a local hospital.

According to KPRC-TV, leading up to the incident, the middle school girls were fighting, and Brittney Sanders came out of her home and allegedly fired a warning shot into the air. Sanders reportedly fired a few shots toward the girls’ car as they went back inside the vehicle. As a result, a 6-year-old boy, who was inside the car, was shot twice, Herman said.

Sanders was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Her bond has not yet been set.

The investigation is ongoing.
