Memes have been flooding the internet after a blue wave crashed through the midterm elections on Tuesday (November 3), with the Democrats taking control of the House and the Senate.
One of the viral memes is Parker Posey‘s iconic moment from the third season of HBO’s The White Lotus, featuring her exaggerated pronunciation of the word “tsunami.” With the Democrats flipping many red states blue, commenters have declared the result a “blue tsumani.”
Posey played Victoria in The White Lotus‘ third season, which was set in Thailand. She put on a distinct Southern accent, with a penchant for stretching out words, perhaps due to the character’s habit of self-medicating. Throughout the series, Victoria freaked out about a tsunami hitting their vacation spot.
The scene originally went viral in 2025 but resurfaced on Tuesday in light of the election results, with one Threads user resharing Posey’s scene and writing, “A blue Tsunaaaaami.”
Actor and podcast host Evan Ross Katz also shared a screenshot of Posey on Instagram, captioned “Did somebody say tsunami?”
“I was waiting for someone to do this,” one commenter wrote.
“Literally said it in her voice just a minute ago,” another said.
“BLUENAMI,” added another.
“I can hear her saying that,” one fan wrote.
Other memes that went viral on Tuesday included a screenshot of David Cross as Tobias Fünke in Arrested Development, specifically, the scene where he paints himself blue to audition for the Blue Man Group. “I’m afraid I just blue myself,” Tobias says in the clip.
Another person photoshopped Brendan Fraser in The Whale, giving him Donald Trump’s hairstyle. “I’ll give you $5000″ > “I swear prices are going down” > “I’ll cut off aid to Israel,” the X user wrote alongside the photo, mocking some of Trump’s campaign pledges.

One X user joked that the government needs to “give us a federal holiday to look at memes from the midterm elections.”
As of now, the Democrats have 228 seats in the House, with 25 seats gained, and 54 seats in the Senate, with 7 seats gained. There are still many races uncalled, but Democrats are estimated to take an 81-seat majority in the House and a several-seat majority in the Senate, giving them control of Congress.
