Because Tom Schwartz’s relationship with Kiana Carroll was still in the early stages while filming The Valley Season 3, they had to overcome some unique challenges from the jump. For starters, Schwartz had to convince his new girlfriend that he wasn’t actually dating Lala Kent after she joked about the “soft launch” of their romance on Instagram.
Though he had asked Lala to confirm for Kiana that they were not dating during Zack Wickham’s house party in Episode 10, Schwartz insisted on The Valley After Show that she wasn’t really “jealous.”
“Things were heating up at that moment,” he explained. “And, like, there were some lingering rumors abound that me and Lala had a secret relationship. And I just wanted to let her know that she’s number one and there’s no one else in my life. Yeah, I don’t have any secret affairs going on or anything.”

Schwartz went on to admit that he similarly “would be concerned” if Kiana was posing with a model on social media and joking about launching a relationship with him.
“I’d be like, ‘I don’t get it. I don’t get the joke,'” he added. “I’ve gotten much better at putting myself in her shoes.”

Rumors aside, Schwartz further pointed out why his and Kiana’s relationship had actually put them both in uncharted territory. “She’s not a, like, insecure person at all,” he said, noting that Kiana was also “annoyed” by the romantic speculation involving him and Michelle Saniei in the Season 3 trailer. “She just doesn’t love it. It’s not easy to date someone on reality TV.”
Though he admitted that Kiana “does not love” watching him on The Valley, she’s at least “entertained” and still thinks it’s a “great show.”
“I’m a bit of a doofus on it — not just on the show, in real life too,” the Vanderpump Rules alum elaborated. “I mean, listen, I’m not a doofus, actually. I love myself and I’m confident in myself. It’s just I’ve never been in this situation where I’m dating someone who, like, wasn’t in the friend group, you know? … We were like a big f–ked up family and now, uh, yeah.”

Tom had even more to say about dating Kiana during a meetup with Danny Booko and Jesse Lally in The Valley‘s June 3 episode. “Kiana is f–king amazing,” he declared, prompting Danny to ask if they’d put an official “label” on their romance yet.
“I guess, yeah,” Schwartz answered, before correcting himself. “I don’t guess. Boyfriend and girlfriend. Yeah, I love her.”
Jesse, for his part, asked if they’d really only met six months prior, joking, “When you were dating Lala, before you dated Michelle?” Though Schwartz laughed in response, he also begged Jesse, “Dude, do not stoke that flame, please.”

Later at Zack’s get-together, Kiana finally met Lala, who instantly remarked on how “stunning” Schwartz’s new girlfriend was. When Kiana downplayed the compliment, Lala lovingly advised her, “Never say that to anybody. You are a five-star bitch.”
That’s when a flashback to a week earlier showed Schwartz bringing up Lala’s Instagram story during a date with Kiana. “So, me and Lala have this thing — not an actual thing,” he explained. Kiana’s response? “We all saw a story. ‘Soft launch’ though? Like, really, girl?”
Back at the party, Kiana asked Lala if she should “get protective,” prompting her to flip the script. “You should get protective because I might steal you from him,” Lala quipped. As Schwartz chimed in, “See, that’s what I was worried about.”
