The Valley‘s Tom Schwartz is opening up about his relationship with his ex-wife, Katie Maloney, today and reflecting on their marriage. The Vanderpump Rules alums divorced in 2022 after 12 years together and six years of marriage, but have both since moved on and are now dating other people. Â Tom appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Wednesday, May 20, where he revealed that Katie has not yet met his girlfriend of less than a year, Kiana Carroll.Â

“I don’t think she’s met Kiana,” he told WWHL host Andy Cohen. “No, she hasn’t met Kiana.”
But Tom has met Katie’s boyfriend, Sleeping with Sirens guitarist Nick Martin. “I love her boyfriend. Love Katie. She’s thriving,” he continued on WWHL.Â
Tom had previously opened up about Nick on Lala Kent’s podcast in October 2025. “I love her boyfriend,” he said during the episode. “He’s a literal rockstar, and he’s just cool as s–t. And they seem so happy and in love.”
Tom Schwartz reflects on his marriage to Katie Maloney following their divorce
In the four years since their divorce, Tom has been able to reflect on his marriage to Katie. He appeared on Carl Radke’s podcast, More Life with Carl Radke, on May 19, where he admitted that he has learned a lot since their relationship ended. “Sometimes I look back, and I’m like, did I fail that marriage? There was parts of it where I was kind of a putz,” he said during the episode.
He continued, sharing what he had learned from the relationship. “What did I learn? Well, I learned to be a better communicator for sure,” he noted. “And I don’t know, when someone was upset or angry, I used to be such an avoidant person, I would run away, if not literally, internally. You know what I mean?”

Tom admitted to Carl that he gives himself “a ton of grace” for his actions in his marriage to Katie. “I don’t know if I want to point out specific things in my marriage that I regret, I just wish I could have been a better communicator and better listener,” he explained. “And not be so quick to judge and be logical when people are upset, which is annoying.”
However, he revealed that he does regret giving her a promise ring on a necklace, aka the “ring on the string,” during VPR Season 3. “Maybe there’s times that I wake up at three in the morning, I’m like, ring on a string? At Scheana [Shay]’s wedding? Bro, what?” he said. “Although I think it was still a cute concept, just poorly executed. Sorry.”
