Massachusetts police say a 33-year-old man accused of killing his wife left a disturbing note on his phone, incriminating him for her death.
According to an arrest warrant issued Wednesday for Aaron Pennington, police found a note that implicated him in the death of Breanne Pennington, Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. said.
“Don’t say anything. Be quite If she wakes up just say you’re getting nasal spray. Get on side of bed — very close proximity to head. Put hole in her head,” the note read, according to the warrant obtained by ABC 5.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, police began searching for Aaron Pennington after the couple’s four children ran to a neighbor’s home last week and said they couldn’t find their father. They added that their mother was last seen crying inside her bedroom, at the family’s Gardner residence.
The couple had reportedly been facing marital issues and Breanne planned to leave with the children, according to the warrant.
On Sunday morning, a neighbor called 911, following the children’s arrival at their home. Police went to the family’s Cherry Street home around 9:20 a.m. and found Breanne in her bed, deceased from a gunshot wound to the head. First responders pronounced her dead within 10 minutes.
A search uncovered three spent casings in the bedroom and an autopsy later concluded Breanne’s cause of death was homicide by gunshot wound(s), the warrant revealed.
Investigators believe Aaron Pennington murdered his wife before fleeing the residence.
Security footage showed Aaron Pennington leaving the residence at around 8:50 a.m. Sunday in a white 2013 BMW sedan, followed by the couple’s four children walking next door. Then, on Monday evening, a bow hunter reportedly discovered Pennington’s abandoned car in the woods off Kenton Street near Camp Collier.
Local and state police searched the area Monday night through Wednesday but didn’t locate the suspect.
“At this time, Pennington is believed to be on foot,” Early Jr. said Thursday.
Police said that the suspect, identified as an Air Force veteran, should be considered armed and dangerous.
“Please, no one in the public go out and try and look for this guy,” Early Jr. said during a Tuesday press conference. “If you run into the guy, call the Gardner police, call the state police, call the police department and just back off from anything you might see. But provide us with the information you might get.”
Pennington is described as 6 feet 2 inches tall and about 175 pounds. Police said Breanne Pennington owned a gun for protection but neither she nor her husband had a license to carry.
As of Sunday night, the four children, ages 2, 5, 7, and 9, were in the custody of the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families, Worcester County District Attorney Joe Early said.
