Inside Emily Simpson and Gina Kirschenheiter’s argument over Carmella Garcia’s gift on RHOC
During the Aug. 6 episode, Gina explained why she was upset with Emily for repeating her comments back to Carmella about the gift being “weird,” among other things.
“That was supposed to be a safe space,” Gina told producers in a confessional. “Of course I talked s—t about Carmella to you. You’re my best f—king friend!”

As Gina explained to Bravo Insider, she felt her intentions for sharing her opinion with Emily were misinterpreted.
“Emily went and told Carmella, and that really upset me because I was telling you what I was telling you to have your back, to be like, ‘Let’s just keep our Spidey sense up about this.’” Gina shared. “But I wasn’t trying to have a problem with somebody.”

Gina explained her issue with the gift directly to Carmella during the episode. Noting that after she heard Carmella said Emily “talks too much” and “asks too many questions,” she found it “weird” that Carmella would then purchase the bag and vibrator for Emily. Later, she added, “It does read a little bit like, does she like to flash her money around?“
Although Carmella said she was “offended” by Gina hinting she had “ulterior motives,” Gina defended her actions as part of being a good friend to Emily. “If I think something’s weird for my best friend, I’m gonna say it,” Gina declared during the episode.
Carmella also defended her actions as just wanting to do “something nice” for Emily. “Had I known it would cause, like, this amount of chaos, I probably wouldn’t have done it,” she admitted at the dinner.
In her interview with Bravo Insider, Gina stood by her comments about the gift. “You don’t give somebody a Dior bag unless, in my opinion, you’re looking for some sort of a response,” she shared. “So don’t be upset at me that I had one.”

While we’ll have to wait and see how the rest of the season unfolds for Gina and Carmella, Gina shared with Bravo Insider that the two have gotten to a great place today. “I actually really like her. I think she’s very interesting. I do think she’s a hard worker,” Gina said. “She’s very sweet. I do think she’s very authentic.”

Gina clarified that Carmella’s authenticity was important to the two developing a friendship.“I can tell you that Carmella really is who she is [on RHOC], and I like that about her,” Gina added. “Once I got to know her more, and I got to see there’s no fakeness here. This is genuinely who she is.”
Gina cleared the air that the Dior bag is no longer an issue in the group. “I actually really like the gift now,” she said, going on to joke, “My birthday’s May 11.”
