Is love in the air for Whitney Sudler-Smith? Well, the Southern Charm bachelor recently spilled a bit about the current state of his love life. He was asked another important question: whether his mom, Patricia Altschul, remains as invested in his love life as she was in early seasons of Southern Charm.

“We go through my Tinder profile. Just kidding, I’m not on Tinder,” he joked on the Welcome To Charleston panel at Bravo Fan Fest 2026, before adding, “She’s very exacting. I love my mother; thank god she’s not here today. She’s, I don’t know, Madison, what would you say? She’s very disapproving of everything.”
Madison LeCroy, a longtime friend of Patricia’s and her hairstylist, noted, “We’re all in his business. That’s our job.”
From there, Austen Kroll shed even more light on Whitney’s love life, saying, “He’ll bring around anyone to his mother. I swear, she just sits there and shakes her head.”
With Whitney saying “that’s true,” Madison even recalled a recent event along those lines. “The other day one of them just walked through the door; she didn’t knock. Patricia didn’t even know her,” Madison recalled.

Patricia has never been shy to talk about her son’s dating life. In an interview with Bravo in March 2025, she noted that she’s not ready to give up on Whitney eventually finding the one. “I’m still hopeful, as long as I’m still breathing, I’m still hopeful,” she said at the time. “I’m not holding my breath; I’ve done it before.”
In the past, Patricia has spoken about whether she’d ever want to be a grandmother. “I want him to get married now,” she said in a confessional in Southern Charm Season 9, Episode 15. “I mean, I did it after a couple of minutes. I don’t know why he can’t.”
“I want Whitney to have a family,” she continued. “He’s an only child and…it just seems like life is slipping away.”

Outside of his dating life, Whitney has a thriving career and personal life filled with many hobbies — and pets. According to his Instagram bio, Whitney manages to find a balance between his work in the world of TV and movies, as well as his other passions. “I write, make movies and TV shows, and can shred Metal on guitar. I also have four dogs,” his bio notes, mirroring what he revealed about his life in an interview with Bravo in 2019,

“I am hardworking, No. 1. I have a production company [with] various shows in development or producing,” he said at the time. “I’ve been playing in rock bands throughout my whole life, and I can shred heavy metal guitar, and I used to be in bands. And I had long hair and played in a lot of heavy metal bands. I play guitar every day. I’ll say it’s my hobby now, but I’m addicted to guitar, and I play at least an hour a day. And I’m classically trained.”
Time will tell what the future holds for Whitney. For now, fans will get to see Whitney alongside his mom, Patricia, on Season 12 of Southern Charm.
