The acclaimed producer shared at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Night that “we’re talking with Johnny” for Pirates of the Caribbean 6, per Deadline.
He continued, “We’re working on a screenplay, and hopefully we can get this done.”
The update comes after a reboot of the swashbuckler film franchise was announced with Margot Robbie as the lead in 2024.

Insiders have separately shared that the next movie won’t be a continuation of Jack Sparrow’s story. Instead, the next chapter will focus on the Barbie star, while Depp’s Sparrow will be a side character.
They added that it’s an “evolution” of the franchise.
Disney cut ties with the 63-year-old in 2018 amid his legal war with his ex-wife, Amber Heard, after she accused him of abuse in a Washington Post op-ed.
During his 2022 defamation trial, Depp testified that he felt betrayed by the entertainment company and wouldn’t return for any amount of money.
