Wisconsin man allegedly climbed out of manhole, assaulted shuttle driver, and bit police officer

MILWAUKEE (TCN) — A 21-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly crawling out of a manhole and attacking a shuttle driver and a police officer.

According to a criminal complaint, Alandis James Tribblett allegedly took the cover off a manhole outside a concert venue on Sept. 13 and crawled in and out of it for approximately 30 minutes, “ranting nonsensically” and causing traffic disruptions, Law & Crime reports.

Witnesses allegedly saw him pounding on the windows of shuttle buses used by a nearby bar to transport customers to and from the venue. He allegedly threatened to kill one of the drivers, who was reportedly playing a game on her phone.

Another driver, age 63, reportedly approached the woman to check on her when Tribblett allegedly punched him after asking if he had kids in the back of the shuttle bus, per Law & Crime. The victim hit the shuttle bus while falling, which knocked him unconscious.

When police approached Tribblett, he was allegedly talking about “underground tunnels where they are sex trafficking kids,” Law & Crime reports. Tribblett allegedly refused to comply with police, but he was detained once more officers arrived. He was reportedly transported to a hospital, where he allegedly tried to bite an officer while wearing a spit mask. The officer sustained a bruise on his hand.

John Roots, owner of Natty Oaks, the bar that operates the shuttles, said he is considering stopping shuttle service to the arena, WISN reports. He said, “It’s not a smart business move, I mean, fiscally speaking. But if I don’t have to worry about getting a text at 3 a.m. that someone’s in the hospital or worse off, dead.”

Tribblett was charged with two felony counts of battery, a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct, and a misdemeanor count of obstructing or resisting an officer, according to WISN.

Law & Crime reports Tribblett is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 4. He is behind bars on $1,000 bond.
