THOMSON, Ga. (TCN) — Authorities recently arrested several suspects in connection with the 2020 cold case deaths of a retired nurse and firefighter.
The case went cold, and no arrests were made. However, three years later, the victims’ family requested a review of their deaths. On Aug. 8, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced that they identified and arrested four suspects: 39-year-old Randy Hall, 34-year-old Lora Thornton, 21-year-old Chance McKenna, and a minor. They all face two counts of murder, two counts of armed robbery, and one count of first-degree burglary.
Authorities noted that Newsome was a retired nurse, and Bennett was a veteran and had worked as a firefighter.
Hall and Thornton were booked into the McDuffie County Jail, while McKenna is in custody in the Georgia Department of Corrections.
