A San Antonio police officer was arrested this week and charged with multiple counts of injury to a child for several incidents that took place in 2024.
Jacob Ryan, 24, turned himself in on Tuesday after he was indicted and an arrest warrant was issued, KSAT reported. He faces three counts of injury to a child.
Court records say Ryan is accused of hitting the same child in February, March, and June 2024. Records did not say why it took more than a year to bring charges.
The records say that Ryan hit the child with his hand and “by manner and means unknown” on February 13, 2024, then with his hand and an “object unknown” on March 21. On June 10, he allegedly lifted the child’s arm with one hand and hit them with his other hand.
The incidents all took place while he was off duty. According to KENS, the victim was a girl under the age of 15. No other information was made available.
Ryan was released on a $10,000 bond and ordered to full house arrest with GPS monitoring. He is not allowed to have contact with the victim or possess firearms.
His next court appearance is scheduled for February 9.
The department said Ryan is a five year veteran who works in the patrol division, KSAT said. He has been placed on administrative leave while they conduct an internal investigation.
