In a fourth-wall-breaking moment on The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 20, Vicki Gunvalson kicked three castmates (and the production team) out of her house amid an argument involving her relationship with boyfriend Michael Smith and her general engagement with the group.
As seen in Episode 10 of RHOC, Vicki had invited Shannon Storms Beador, Emily Simpson, and Jennifer Pedranti for an overnight stay at her new home in La Quinta, California, which is where the tense drama erupted. Throughout the mini getaway, the ladies had called out Vicki’s “disrespectful” response to questions about her romance with Mike (more on that below), and by the end of the first day, she’d simply had enough.
Though the other women insisted that they just wanted to have an “honest conversation” about her behavior as they made pizzas in her kitchen, Vicki had no interest in doing so. After suggesting that they play “the quiet game” for a bit, a “very upset” Vicki declared, “I’m taking my mic off,” and retreated to her bedroom. “It’s my home,” she muttered to herself. “You don’t respect it, get the f–k out.”
Shannon, Emily, and Jenn barely had a chance to react before Mike walked in the house, leaving them feeling “very uncomfortable” and as though they should just head back to Orange County. It’s unclear if they even had a choice, though, as Vicki immediately went outside and told a member of the production crew, “You guys, everybody can get the f–k out of my home. I’m out of my mind with what’s going on. I’m out.”
Why was Vicki Gunvalson upset with her RHOC castmates?
Just prior to Vicki’s blowup on RHOC, she felt that Emily and Jenn were “picking on” her by calling out her tendency to “take a jab,” in order to “deflect from” conversations about her and Mike’s relationship. They’d also mentioned how she’d been “rude” when they told her she seemed more concerned with answering work emails than enjoying her time with them. Vicki, meanwhile, was also upset that Shannon was not “standing up for” her amid all of the criticism.

“I’m tired of it!” Vicki exclaimed as their conflict escalated in her heated pool. “Leave Mike and I alone! We’re good!”
When the ladies, more specifically, said that it was unkind of her to refer to Jenn as “low-hanging fruit,” Vicki eventually apologized for making that comment but still warned them to “stop poking the bear.” As they continued the conversation anyway, Vicki fired back, “OK. Got your message. You guys can dissect it however you want. I don’t want to talk about it anymore. … You’re in my home. Respect me and be quiet.”
After going indoors, Vicki told Shannon, “I don’t want to talk right now. I’m livid, and it’s my home.” As Emily and Jenn changed into their pajamas, Vicki added, “What are they doing in there? Talking about me? If they’re gonna talk about me, they can leave.”
Emily and Jenn eventually joined them in the kitchen, and Vicki reiterated that she had nothing else to say. Though the duo insisted that they were coming from a place of love, she still did not want to discuss their issues any further.
In a confessional, Vicki added, “This is bulls–t. I don’t appreciate negative energy in my home. I feel Jenn and Emily are absolutely trying to ruin the evening.”
Why does Vicki Gunvalson not want to discuss her relationship with Mike with her RHOC castmates?
As for why questions about her relationship with Mike were so triggering, Vicki explained to a producer, “I’ve been hurt in relationships in the past by other people’s opinions. I don’t want to be in their marriage issues or relationship issues. Stay out of mine.”
Most recently, Vicki had taken issue with some of the ladies, namely Tamra Judge, speculating on why Mike bought her an engagement ring but never gave it to her. When Mike arrived in La Quinta earlier in the Sept. 10 episode, Vicki instructed him to tell the ladies to “lay off” her about them getting married.
While arguing with the women in her kitchen later on, Vicki said, “Thank God Mike is not here,” before elaborating, “He is worried that I’m gonna get stressed and worry, because this group always isn’t nice to each other.”

Upon his return amidst the dustup, Mike went directly to the room where Vicki was already holed up and closed the door behind him. When she reemerged, Vicki told Shannon, “Michael’s in there. We’re not talking about Mike,” intimating that he was already upset about what was happening in their home.
