Man who allegedly wore ‘Chucky’ mask to threaten people arrested in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (TCN) — A man accused of threatening people in Philadelphia while donning a mask depicting Chucky from the horror franchise “Child’s Play” has been apprehended in Nevada.

On Aug. 12, a suspect allegedly filmed himself threatening people while wearing the mask. He allegedly asked a woman if she was ready to die. Another woman was injured running from him and required extensive medical treatment for her leg, according to police. He was last seen entering a public transit station and police asked for the public’s help in identifying him.

The Philadelphia Police Department announced they had identified the suspect as Zymire Hughes, 22, on Aug. 20, and a warrant for his arrest was issued.

U.S. Marshals announced Hughes’ arrest on Aug. 25, KLAS reports. Hughes had allegedly left Philadelphia and was hiding at an apartment complex in Las Vegas, Nevada. Following surveillance of the complex, Hughes was reportedly arrested without incident.

U.S. Marshals Supervisory Deputy Robert Clark said, “He was not a happy man being brought into custody,” WPVI reports.

Hughes is at the Clark County Detention Center and awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania, according to the U.S. Marshals. WPVI reports he is facing multiple felony charges, including aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and making terroristic threats.

According to KLAS, investigators said Hughes is allegedly linked to other incidents involving different women.
