Dauphin County detectives investigated for more than a month after the videos surfaced, showing older players restraining younger players on the floor while spreading their legs and pushing a muscle therapy gun and other equipment against their buttocks, over their clothes, while the boys screamed, Pennlive. com reported.
After identifying the three boys who were the targets of the 20-minute video that was recorded on August 11 without any adult supervision, investigators discovered that the three other victims had been involved in three other instances during the previous year, including one that took place in a home. They are also investigating whether six additional youngsters were the targets of a summertime football camp.
The accused are 16 and 17 years old, while the victims were between the ages of 14 and 17.
According to Pennlive, two 17-year-olds who were allegedly the ringleaders of the sexualized hazing squad were charged with a number of crimes including hazing, indecent assault, unlawful restraint, and many charges of criminal attempt to engage in involuntary deviant sexual activity.
A 16-year-old student was charged with unlawful restraint, simple assault, and hazing. Three more students, ages 16 and 17, were charged with unlawful restraint and hazing, and four additional students were charged with hazing.
Chief Deputy District Attorney Jen Gettle said the case went far beyond “boys will be boys” conduct.
“Rather, two of these individuals committed repeated sexual assaults and encouraged others to participate under the guise of hazing,” she said.
At least seven of the students have been expelled from the school. The school district canceled Middletown’s football season in August after the head coach resigned.
District Attorney Fran Chardo added that the school fully cooperated with the investigation.

“To date, the investigation has shown that none of the coaches or school administrators knew of the incidents until the day it was reported to the police,” Chardo said. She also noted that the district took immediate action to remove “all known perpetrators from the school to ensure the victims were not further traumatized.”
The district “contracted with outside professionals who specialize in working with schools to address hazing and to assist rebuild and foster positive, supportive sports programs, and learning environments for children,” district schools superintendent Chelton Hunter said on Tuesday.
