The case came as a shock to a lot of people and the investigation took turns after it was declared a homicide case. Authorities said that they believed Harmony was murdered in Manchester in early December 2019 without elaborating more.
The revelation was made by the investigating authorities after the FBI stormed Montgomery’s residence to look for evidence.
According to Daily Mail, AG Formella said at a news conference on Monday, October 24, “We understand that today’s news, while significant for purposes of this investigation, is yet another difficult moment for those who loved Harmony and those who have followed this case.” Formella also added that Montgomery would be arraigned with more charges on Tuesday. The charges mentioned included falsifying physical evidence, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with a witness.
Harmony used to live with her adoptive parents Adam Montgomery and Kayla Montgomery after her mother Crystal Sorey lost her custody for substance abuse. Adam had been in jail since January and had also lost the custody of his daughter for endangering her welfare. It was only after months of investigation that the heartbreaking truth behind the disappearance of the little girl was revealed by the authorities one after another
Additionally, in April Adam was hit with further charges that included stealing a rifle and a shotgun before Harmony went missing.
