Alaska Mom Arrested: Allegedly Killed Son, Fled With Daughter

A mother has been apprehended by police on allegations of murdering her young son and absconding with her other child.

On February 7, the Fairbanks Police Department was alerted to an apartment on University Avenue after a concerned caller reported a lack of communication with her client, Heather Alexie, for an extended period. Upon entering the residence, officers discovered the lifeless body of Heather Alexie’s 6-year-old son, Peter Alexie.

Authorities concluded that the child had succumbed to homicidal violence. It was reported that Heather Alexie and her 5-year-old daughter, Sara Alexie, were missing from the premises.

Detectives utilized Heather Alexie’s cellphone data to ascertain her whereabouts, which led them to the Anchorage area. The police also appealed to the public for assistance in locating her, resulting in numerous calls and emails that helped pinpoint her location.

Subsequently, law enforcement officials responded to a residence in the Mountain View neighborhood, where they found Alexie and her daughter safe and unharmed.

According to the police department, Alexie confessed to inflicting injuries that resulted in her son’s death before fleeing to Anchorage with her daughter. She was arrested by Anchorage Police on a charge of second-degree murder, and the state has taken custody of her 5-year-old daughter.

In a statement, Fairbanks Police Department Chief Ron Dupee expressed, “The death of a child is always devastating, and our hearts go out to Peter’s loved ones and everyone affected by this unimaginable loss.”
