Some intense weather has an “apocalyptic movie” feel
In one intense moment, paradise is lost as the Azul V crew encounters some nasty weather while cruising through the otherwise crystal-clear waters around Phuket, Thailand. Captain Kerry is the first to sound the alarm over the radio, warning chief stew Fraser, “We are in a bad situation with this wind. We’re trying to pack up.”
Cut to the team frantically pulling inflatables and everything else attached to the vessel out of water, before Captain Kerry announces a directive to “stay off comms” and “lose all the lights.”
As the boat goes dark, someone says in a voiceover, “Holy s–t. It’s f–king blowing,” while another crew member cryptically adds, “I feel like I’m in an apocalyptic movie.”

The “rumor mill” leaves the Below Deck Season 13 crew at odds
Mother Nature isn’t all the crew is up against. As newbie Rosa gets her sea legs, she declares that “everything has just gone wrong” amid her attempts to find a healthy workplace dynamic with returning second stew Rainbeau.
In a separate clip, a fed-up Rainbeau vents to her stew, “This rumor mill, I’m f–king over it, Rosa.”
Multiple boatmances create more cast drama
Outside of their actual job responsibilities, several romances rock the boat in various ways.
Immediately after Matthew and Kaylee share a kiss, things seem to quickly take a sharp turn when she tells him that they’re “gonna have to get married” now. In a confessional, he rhetorically asks, “What the f–k?” Kaylee, meanwhile, also appears to lose interest, rolling her eyes when the deckhand shares that his IQ is “in the top 7 percent in the world.”
Elsewhere, Alex kisses Jessenia, aka Sen, but the bosun immediately recognizes the power dynamics at play between him and his deckhand. “I might have f–ked up,” he admits, before adding in a confessional, “She is part of my team. That can cause problems.”
Captain Kerry and the charter guests challenge the crew
Amid more lighthearted moments with ziplining and local elephants, Captain Kerry still aptly predicts a “hectic” season but assures his crew that he’s confident they’re up for the challenge. “Every single one of you is here for a good reason,” he says. “Most yacht crew can’t do what we do. The guests have high expectations, and so do I.”
There are some bumps along the way, however. Shortly after Kerry’s statement, someone from the interior team drops and breaks a glass in front of a group of guests. Elsewhere, a guest calls out a member of the interior crew, saying that she “brought nothing to Papa.”
Another visitor, meanwhile, tells Chef Moe, who says he’s “worked in some of the best Michelin-starred restaurants in New York City,” that she’s going to stick her chopsticks in her own eyes, prompting him to tell a producer, ” I am getting too old for this s–t.”

Through all the crew’s trials and tribulations, Captain Kerry seems to have his eye mostly closely on his bosun, Alex, especially after the yacht ends up “one boat length from going aground.” As Captain Kerry says, “I really want Alex to work out, but I just keep seeing these small errors.”
