Wells was born in 1941 and She completed her first undergraduate and graduate degrees from The University of North Texas before going on to earn an Honorary Doctorate at St Thomas Christian College in Jacksonville Florida -where she also became the first black professor ever hired by them.

She went on to become a well-known author, speaker, and television personality. She was known for her ability to exhort people to Christ and share the gospel in a way that was both powerful and relatable.

In a world where people are often called names for their religion, Agnes’s “God is Not Through With Me Yet” Wells has stood out as someone who wears her faith on her sleeve.

Evangelist Thelma Wells President Of A Woman Of God Ministry Known as “Mama T,” Thelma Wells is a feisty 79-year-old who has been featured in D Magazine, Southern Living, The Dallas Business Journal, The Dallas Morning News, Significant Living, and many more publications and TV shows including Dr. Phil, The Joanie Show, Life Today and the 700 Club.

In 2016, she spoke for Women of Faith on the Final “LOVED” tour — traveling to 22 cities and reaching half a million women.  Her passion is to tell everyone that they can “BEE” their best in Christ.  A mission she’s carried out for 40 years.

In 2001, she received her Master of Divinity from Masters International School of Divinity in Evansville, Indiana.  Then in 2006, she was ordained upon receiving an honorary Doctorate from St. Thomas Christian School and Theological Seminary in Jacksonville, Florida.

And if that doesn’t keep her busy enough, she tapes her TV show for the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) Channel 378, which airs each Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. Central. This show offers a fresh perspective on today’s issues for women through dialogue and teaching. She’s written 40-plus books and training manuals including Don’t Give In – God Wants YOU to Win!, Ready to Win over Depression, Mama T Says…Rise & Shine, God Give Me Victory Over Anger! and her latest book Listen Up Beloved (which you can find on Amazon.)

Traveling to 20+ conferences a year as a speaker, she’s sought after by corporations, women’s groups, and governmental entities.  She’s no stranger to the stage, having presented to over a million people in her career and spoken on the stage with the best including Zig Ziglar, Max Lucado, the late Rosa Parks, Kay Arthur, June Hunt, Serita Jakes, and course, her Women of Faith porch pals:  Luci Swindoll, Sheila Walsh, Patsy Clairmont, Marilyn Meberg, Nicole Johnson and International Singer Sandy Patti.

Many people are remembering Wells on social media, sharing their condolences and stories about how she impacted their lives. Dr. Phil tweeted, “Thelma Wells has passed away. What an amazing woman of God she was! Her passion for evangelism and discipleship was contagious.” The 700 Club also tweeted about her death, saying, “We’re deeply saddened by the passing of Thelma Wells. She was a powerful evangelist who fearlessly shared the gospel with all she met.”

Wells leaves behind a legacy of faithfulness and impact that will be felt for many years to come. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her, but we can take comfort in knowing that she is now with Jesus in heaven.
