According to the police, Glennis Smith, 48, was arrested on July 26 on suspicion of killing his wife Jennifer Smith-Floyd, 49, on January 12. In a statement issued on July 28 by the police force, Glennis claimed that his 49-year-old wife was unconscious when he contacted 911 on January 12 in the morning as per PEOPLE Magazine.

Glennis is a 48-year-old man who was arrested for killing his wife by injecting fentanyl into her food. The couple had been married for five years but were living apart for a while before the incident occurred. After Glennis contacted 911 on January 12, 2023, firefighters and police officers quickly arrived at the residence to provide first aid, but Jennifer was declared dead. During the lengthy investigation, it was discovered that Jennifer had fentanyl in her system. Detectives later found that Glennis had purposefully added fentanyl to his wife’s food on two occasions unbeknownst to her. The final incident, which proved fatal, took place on the morning of January 12.

The allegation that Glennis was involved in his wife Jennifer’s death took a strange turn when the couple’s vacation trailer caught fire at a self-storage facility after her death. According to arson investigators, Glennis had set it on fire. Thus, he now has been accused of murder, arson, and insurance fraud. He was finally detained by a police officer on July 26. Notably, Glennis was earlier sentenced to prison for spousal rape from a previous marriage, according to court records obtained by CBS News.
Jennifer’s family described her as an amazing woman who was always there for others, and they believed that she was in a bad marriage. “The first thought that I had was that he did it,” Jennifer’s best friend, Dorie Suathojame, stated after Glennis’ was detained. “She was always there to help. She had a really big heart. Too big sometimes,” said Jennifer’s daughter, Taylor Hearne, as reported by CBS13.
