As Gia Giudice had a heart-to-heart conversation with her father, Joe Giudice, during Next Gen NYC’s Season 2 finale, the reality television veterans broke the fourth wall when they gave new insight into the difficulties of living life in the public eye.

After the Next Gen NYC cast member admitted there were “obviously downsides” to living a public life, Joe chimed in with his own take on the matter. “You pee, and you pee on your pants, you know? You watch and see what you do, because they’ll put that out there as well,” Joe remarked of the cameras capturing little details.
Joe and his then-wife Teresa Giudice, along with their daughters Gia, Gabriella and Milania, first appeared on The Real Housewives of New Jersey when it debuted in May 2009. Their fourth daughter Audriana’s birth and christening were featured on RHONJ Season 2.
“I did it because of your mother,” Joe bluntly told Gia of his decision to film RHONJ.

The conversation came after Gia’s boyfriend, Christian Carmichael, shared during Episode 8 that he didn’t “like to be on camera.”
To her father, Gia explained, “Christian’s been filming a little bit, and it’s been funny, because he literally reminds me of you. I’m sure you weren’t used to it at first.”
Gia continued to wonder if she’d have to give up being on reality tv to be with her longtime boyfriend. “Being in the public eye, it definitely is a sensitive topic,” she confessed to producers. “I mean, we’re still trying to figure out how we’re going to proceed going forward.”

Where does Joe Giudice live now?
Joe lives in Nassau, Bahamas, Gia shared on Next Gen NYC Season 2, Episode 12. She made a trip with some of her friends to visit him at the end of the season finale.

In case you need a refresher, Joe left RHONJ after Season 10, when he was deported to Italy after serving three-and-a-half years in federal prison for tax crimes. He later moved to the Bahamas from Italy, and shared it was to be closer to his daughters in New Jersey.
“I kind of feel like I’m close to home. When I was in Italy, it wasn’t really the same. It was nice, but it just felt far,” he shared during a Jan. 2025 appearance on Teresa’s podcast, Turning the Tables with Teresa Giudice. “Like, here, it’s close. It’s only two-and-a-half hours away, and I guess because everybody comes and visits me, I don’t feel like I’m too far.”
While Teresa has since married Luis “Louie” Ruelas after her divorce from Joe, Joe has also moved on with a new girlfriend. “He’s dating a lawyer, so I’m happy for him,” Teresa updated during BravoCon 2025.
As for his career, Joe is still in the construction business. He shared on Teresa’s podcast he builds “big homes” in the Bahamas, and is in charge of the “smaller work” like stuccoing and tiles.

Despite his new life in the Bahamas, Joe and his family are still working to move him back to the U.S. “We just filed a humanitarian packet for him, just kind of trying to do everything we can to get him pardoned and hopefully come back or even just on visitation,” Gia shared during an August appearance on Good Day New York. “We’re still trying to do that and trying to do everything we can. I mean, I think any family would want their dad home.”
