Kandi Burruss sent shockwaves when she announced her divorce from her husband Todd Tucker in November 2025, and The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum later opened up to her daughter Riley Burruss about what the future held for their family during Next Gen NYC’s Season 2 finale.

“We’re trying to figure out the best way for us not to be together, but still come together,” Kandi candidly explained to Riley during Episode 12. Despite the split, Kandi revealed plans for the whole Burruss-Tucker family to spend the holidays together, including her children with Todd, Blaze and Ace Tucker.
“So, all of us are still going to do things as a family for Christmas Eve,” Kandi added during Next Gen NYC’s Sept. 9 episode. “Todd is invited as well. He’s still family. We’re still connected.”
Kandi gave insight into her emotions surrounding her divorce at the time, admitting to Riley, “Divorce is a lot.” Riley responded, “I hate that it’s so, like, public.”
Kandi also revealed she had no idea people would be so invested in the news of her divorce from Todd. “What they think of me, or what they think about the situation is not my business,” she declared.

Riley conceded she was still struggling to process the news of Kandi and Todd’s divorce during the Sept. 9 episode.
“This year honestly has been super hard for me,” she confessed to producers. “I don’t know how to navigate this, and I try to ask my friends who have divorced parents, but, a lot of my friends who have divorced parents kind of saw it coming. Personally, I did not.”
Riley worried that she’d missed crucial family moments by moving from Atlanta to New York City, and admitted regrets. “I do think about moving back to Atlanta, because I feel like I really have a village there,” she reflected. “I miss a lot of things. Like I probably would have seen the divorce coming if I was there.”

Riley also shared her fears that her relationship with her stepfather would change. “Todd has been in my life since I was a kid. So, it’s hard figuring out what this new normal looks like,” she admitted.
Since filming the Next Gen NYC Season 2 finale, Riley has revealed that her bond with Todd did in fact change. “You know, we’re trying to still be a blended family,” she said during her Aug. 5 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. “But there are some things that irk my nerves. You know, you sometimes look at his social media, and I’m like, ‘What is going on here?’ But we’re OK.”
Despite the split, Todd sent Riley birthday wishes on Aug. 22, posting a photo of her on his Instagram with the caption, “I’m proud of you! Keep shining on ‘em as Leo’s do! Love you enjoy your day!”

“I don’t have any regrets,” she told the Atlanta Constitution-Journal. “I feel like we had a good marriage. It was great while it was great. I don’t have any negative thing to say about my marriage or Todd, really. I just feel like it didn’t work.”
