Mass of Christian Burial for William “Willie” Voller, 95, of Mobridge will be at 10 AM, Monday, February 6, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mobridge. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be at 4 PM Sunday with a prayer service at 5 PM at the church. William passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.

William Voller was born on November 3, 1927 in Strasburg, ND, to Anton and Ottilia (Reis) Voller.  He was the seventh of nine children.  He grew up on the family farm east of Strasburg.  He attended rural school near their home and graduated from Strasburg High School in 1947.  He taught in a rural school and worked on the farm.

William attended one semester at Dakota Business College in Fargo, ND.  He then worked for Anti-Tank Co in Milwaukee, WI, before serving in the US Army from 1950 -1952, basic training at Camp Polk, Louisiana.  He served 8 months in Japan and 9 months in Korea.   After his discharge, he farmed part time with his brothers and worked for GTA grain elevator in Strasburg, ND.

On November 11, 1957, he married Alvina Mastel from Hague, ND.  In 1959 their first child was born, a son, Florian.  In 1961 daughter, Marlene, was born.

In 1962, William and Alvina moved to Firesteel, SD, to manage the grain elevator for Firesteel Grain Corp.  In 1970 they moved to Timber Lake, SD, to manage the elevator.  William sold the elevator in 1977.  He worked for Timber Lake Motors and Dewey County Crop Improvement. 

William and Alvina moved to Mobridge, SD, in 1983.  He worked various jobs such as construction, repairs, painting, lawn mowing, and odd jobs.  Numerous people watched him walking around Mobridge, walking several miles every day.

William was a kind, quiet, and generous man.  He was very proud of his family.  He was a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge, Eagles, and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mobridge.

Survivors include wife Alvina, son Florian (Marilyn) Voller, daughter Marlene (Bart) Biegler, Grandchildren:  Lance Voller, Devan (Stacy) Voller, Chad Biegler, Lisa (Curtis) Osburn, Bruce Biegler

Step grandchildren: Jason (Jackee) Haak, Darel (Cassie) Haak, Dennis Haak, Becky (Matt) Leier

Great-grandchildren:  Aria, Layla, and Lexi Voller, Tyson, Nolan, Kesley, Paisley, and Hayes Haak, and Presley Leier

Sister-in law:   Violet Voller

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings:  Helen (Syl) Hulm, Margaret (Alois) Baumgartner, Bertha Voller,  Tony (Belle) Voller, Artie (Rose) Voller, Hilda (Eddie) Hager, Joe (Cecelia) Voller, and Andrew Voller.
