Popular Atlanta Lounge Co-Owner Michael Gidewon Shot Dead’ The co-owner of a popular nightclub was shot dead in Atlanta just outside his establishment on Saturday, February 4. The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office identified Michael Gidewon as the man discovered deceased outside the Republic Lounge, located at 990 Brady Avenue NW near 11th Street NW.
According to the Republic Lounge website, Gidewon has been a nightlife entrepreneur for the last 35 years. He started the business after escaping from the East African country of Eritrea with his younger brother, Alex. The brothers started out as valets to get expertise in the nightlife industry, eventually gaining enough information to run their individual clubs, which were a block apart. Gidewon is reportedly survived by his 4 children who are in middle and high school, as well as his wife, Selam, according to Fox News.

Who killed Michael Gidewon?
According to Atlanta Police, someone was kicked out of the nightclub for being intoxicated and allegedly returned with a gun, shooting Gidewon to death. Officers from Zone 5 responded to the club at 990 Brady Ave, NW at 6.55 am in response to reports of a shooting.
Officers arrived on the scene to find Gidewon, 50, unconscious with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the spot by medics. Currently, the department’s Homicide Unit is investigating the shooting. No suspects have been apprehended, and no motive is known yet.

Gidewon also held hundreds of celebrity evenings and appearances at the club. Gidewon’s younger brother Alex is also currently the head of AG Entertainment.
