Putman Man Charles Chuck Carter Charged With Rape, Abuse & Murder Of 15-Year-Old Teen
Charles “Chuck” Carter, 63, was arrested on a charge of statutory rape last Wednesday, the same day 15-year-old Olivia Daryl Taylor’s parents reported her missing, WZTV reported.
Taylor’s body was found on Thursday in a rural, wooded area by employees of the Putnam County Road Department, and Carter was named a suspect in her death.
On Monday, he was charged with second-degree murder and abuse of a corpse.
Police said that Carter admitted to giving Taylor illegal narcotics, which caused her death.
Carter’s initial $50,000 bond has been revoked, and he is due in court on Wednesday.
Carter told deputies that he gave Taylor illegal narcotics, which caused her death, according to the sheriff’s Oct. 31 news release. He is being held without bond in the Putnam County Jail while the investigation continues. Taylor, a high school student at Upperman High School, leaves behind both of her parents and five siblings, as well as extended family, her obituary says. She was a member of her school’s wrestling team and Reserve Officers’ Training Corps program, and she loved baking, sewing, playing the ukulele, singing and creating art.
