Los Angeles, California – Sabrina Carpenter had to defend her team after Madonna jokingly revealed that she waited five days before DM’ing the pop star herself about their collab!
The musicians took home the Best Collaboration award at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, for their song Bring Your Love.
While celebrating the win, Madonna shared how their partnership came together, revealing that she eventually sent Sabrina a DM after struggling to get in touch with her team.
The Juno singer laughed as Madonna recalled the experience, but things got even funnier when the 68-year-old singer praised her professionalism and described how difficult it can be to find reliable collaborators.

“My team is s**ting themselves backstage,” Sabrina quipped, prompting laughter from the crowd before the remark was bleeped from the broadcast.
She was quick to clarify that her team does respond to messages, but admitted that she is much faster at getting back to people herself.
“Direct line to me is always the best way to get in contact,” Sabrina added.
The pair then embraced, with Madonna suggesting they celebrate their win with a drink backstage.
Sabrina enthusiastically introduced her legendary collaborator to the crowd as they left the stage holding hands.
