After the Summer House Season 10 reunion trailer teased Amanda Batula’s dramatic walk-off, viewers now know exactly what led to her abrupt exit from the stage.
During Part 2 of the reunion, host Andy Cohen brought up the fact that Amanda had been privy to what happened between West Wilson and Ciara Miller and, more specifically, his “inability to commit” to her former close friend. “What does make you think that this situation is different?” Andy asked.
“I mean, that’s conversations that West and I have had,” Amanda responded. “We’ve talked about that privately and, like, what this would look like and what this meant, which is the only reason I feel like I’m sitting here next to him right now.”

After Lindsay Hubbard chimed in, “What the f–k?” Amanda continued, “I wanted to get to a point, selfishly, where maybe I felt… I understood what was going on, because I was going to have to be honest with Ciara no matter what. No matter what. I felt embarrassed to have to say I have feelings and have kissed West, and he’s seeing someone else. I felt embarrassed having to say that to Ciara.”
Castmate Mia Calabrese, meanwhile, remarked, “I mean, yeah, it’s embarrassing,” just prior to Amanda tearfully telling Andy, “I think I need to take a break for a second.”

Rewinding a bit further in the June 2 episode, Andy had also asked Amanda to respond to Ciara’s claim that she and West both used empty “buzzwords” and only told her what she “needed to hear” amid a vulnerable Season 10 discussion on race and interracial dating. “They didn’t really see or hear me,” Ciara claimed.
Amanda, for her part, insisted to Ciara, “Everything that I’ve said to you over the summer, everything that I’ve felt, everything that we’ve talked about was truly how I felt in those moments. I got caught up in my feelings, and I— I— It doesn’t matter. Like, this has hurt me a lot, like, for you.”
Ciara remained unconvinced, retorting, “It really hasn’t. You’ve literally been out. You guys have been out. You’ve been functioning. You’ve been fine. … But also, at the same time, Amanda, I think that that’s insane ’cause you’ve literally been in the bed with me for the past six f–king years. And, like, this is where we’re at?”

This was only one of many heated exchanges between Ciara and Amanda throughout just the morning of the reunion taping. At one point during Part 1, for example, Kyle Cooke even stepped in to quietly tell Ciara that, despite his own complicated feelings on the matter, one “harsh” comment that she made about Amanda filling the role of the “weak figure” that West needs in a relationship was “hard” even for him to hear.
What Amanda Batula said backstage amid her break in filming the reunion
Backstage, Amanda reiterated to production that she was going to “need a second” and asked for the cameras to stop rolling for five minutes. Her castmates, meanwhile, blasted West for not going after Amanda to make sure she was OK, at which point he explained his reasoning that at least one of them should be on set to respond to questions about their relationship.
Amid continued criticism, West eventually went to their shared dressing room, telling Amanda, “I came to make sure you’re good.” Behind a closed door, Amanda’s hot mic picked up audio of her explaining to West through tears that some of the some of the cast’s comments had “cut really deep” and were “really hard” for her to hear.
“If you have to cry on stage, cry on stage,” West advised her, prior to rejoining the cast and telling Andy that Amanda just needed to take “a beat” but would return shortly. She remained backstage through an all-cast break, telling West that she needed a “touch-up” on her makeup. When filming resumed, Andy rearranged his cue cards, and Amanda eventually returned to the hot seat to face more questions partway into the next segment.
