“Hey guys, until we get off the dock, do you mind just moving inside?” Nathan asks the guests after boarding M/Y Akira One in Croatia. But just a moment later he’s forced to again ask guests leaning against the rails, “Do you mind stepping off the main deck aft until we get going please?”

As Nathan walks away, charter guest Josef’s displeasure at the request is heard off camera as he asks, “So, if you speak, I have to f—king listen to you?”

Nathan grows frustrated as he then encounters the guests still sitting around on the deck as the rest of the crew is preparing to leave, and requests for a third time, “Until we get off the dock, do you just mind moving in please?”

But Josef fights back, arguing, “Bro, I moved off the rail, now you’re telling me to move in, like I need more instructions. Do you want me going downstairs center?”

Nathan answers, “Captain [Sandy Yawn] can address it if you’re not happy with it,” and a heated Josef replies, “No, I’m gonna f—king rip your face off.”

Nathan voices his annoyance with the safety situation to producers, pointing out, “Unless he wants to put on the f—king uniform, put his drink down, [and] become a deckhand, get off the f—king deck.”

Inside the yacht, it’s clear Josef is not handling the orders well. He tells stew Kayley Smith, “Your little s—t mate here is a d—k head.”

A stunned Kayley answers, “Sorry to hear that. Hopefully we can get some champagne in you, and you can forget all about it.” To producers, she confesses her confusion at the situation: “You’ve been on here for like two minutes. What is going on?”

Inside Nathan Gallagher and his deck crew’s struggles during Below Deck Med Season 11

In a Below Deck Mediterranean first, the M/Y Akira One crew crashed the boat into the dock during a “practice docking” ahead of the start of the season in the June 8 episode, immediately putting Nathan’s leadership skills in the spotlight. Although the yacht was damaged, fortunately it wasn’t serious enough to end the charter season before it began.

Sandy voiced her concerns about Nathan’s position when he was unable to move on from the mishap. “I am concerned. I can see how upset Nathan is. But, we have a charter starting in less than half of a day. You can’t linger in that place. Just, keep moving,” she told producers.

When the deck crew once again had a difficult and near disastrous docking during the June 11 episode, deckhand Joe Bradley also admitted he didn’t fully have faith in Nathan as a bosun.

“It could be he’s just had a baby and his mindset is elsewhere. Regardless, you’ve just crashed the boat for the first time. This docking was really bad. Are you fit for this position?” Joe questioned to producers.

Nathan is also floundering with another bosun job duty: naming a lead deckhand. Although he named Joe as his lead on Below Deck Med Season 10, after Nathan disagreed with some of Joe’s personal decisions in previous charter seasons, he considered naming Luke Brumer instead during the June 11 episode.

“Yes, Joe has the skillset, but is he going to try to undermine me? Does he have my best interests at heart? Is he gonna f—k every girl on the boat and ruin the crew morale? I don’t wanna take the risk,” Nathan told producers.

Captain Sandy disagreed with Nathan’s logic in appointing Luke over Nathan, and urged him to reconsider. “Joe has more experience than Luke. Nathan’s worked with Joe before. Nathan needs to pause and think about the decision before he makes it,” she argued to producers.
