Hakeem played centre for the NBA’s Houston Rockets from 1984 to 2002. During his playing years, he led the team to back-to-back NBA Championships in 1994 and 1995 respectively.

NBA star Hakeem always wanted his children to pursue careers in basketball. So, he began to train Abdullah early to make a foundation.

Hakeem Olajuwon and Abdullah Olajuwon share a special bond in basketball. Abdullah now plays basketball for the Village School in Houston.

Hakeem has a significant role in making a base for Adbullah’s NBA career.

Growing up in the country, the junior Olajuwon initially didn’t have an interest in basketball. The sport wasn’t as widely popular in that area.

Instead, Abdullah was fond of the far more famous sport of soccer. But his dad always encouraged him to take up basketball games.

Hakeem made initial efforts to persuade his son to follow basketball games work out. Whenever Hakeem used to leave Abdullah with a basketball, they would turn it into a soccer ball.

In a conversation with VYPE, Hakeem shared he had a deal with his kid that once he tasted basketball, he’d forget about soccer. Then, he admitted Abdullah to both a soccer and basketball club.

Three months later, Hakeem saw Abdullah being passionate about basketball and he also began playing some matches.

Initially when the Olajuwon family moved to the United Kingdom, Abdullah shared he had a passion for soccer games. Since he had played it before, he didn’t mind playing it.

Things changed when Adbullah started playing basketball; he learned about his genuine interest. Then, he moved to the United States with his family for a better basketball future.

Abdullah is active on Instagram under the username @everthingolajuwon, where he displays his professional stuff like training videos.

Hakeem Olajuwon Children Followed Him Into The Athletic Career

Former NBA star Hakeem Olajuwon has five children from his relationships with Dalia Asafi and Lita Spencer.

Hakeem and his wife Asafi have four kids including Abdullah and Abdul. At the same time, his eldest daughter Abisola was born from his past relationship with Spencer.

Just like Hakeem, his kids Abdullah and Abdul and his daughter Abisola are into basketball.

Abdullah started playing basketball in Birmingham, England. At age 15, he learned the skills necessary to pursue a career in basketball.

Abdullah and Abdul played for the City of Birmingham Rockets Basketball Club for three successful seasons.

In August 2019, Hakeem with his family relocated to the United States so that their children could get better playing opportunities. Now, Abdullah displayed good footwork and an excellent handle in the field.

In the meantime, Hakeem’s daughter Abisola is also exceptional on the basketball court. Earlier, she played in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA).

She also played with the Tulsa Shock during the 2011 season. Similarly, she was associated with BC Castors Braine, Hapoel Rishon LeZion, and ZKK Novi Zagreb.

After ending her playing career, Abisola currently served as a basketball coach. She was appointed as an assistant coach for the women’s Eastern Michigan Eagles on 20 May 2016.
