CINCINNATI (TCN) — A 27-year-old mother of two was fatally stabbed while on her shift as a waitress at a chili restaurant and her ex has been arrested and charged in connection with her death.
On the afternoon of June 2, 27-year-old Alyssa Hill was working at a Skyline Chili restaurant when her ex-boyfriend, 37-year-old Rick Wright, allegedly stabbed her, WLWT reports. Six people dialed 911 after witnessing the incident, AOL reports. One of the callers reportedly told a dispatcher, “A customer just came in and stabbed one of our waitresses in the back.”
She was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead, and Wright was arrested and charged with murder in connection with her death.
WCPO reports Hill was a single mother who also served as her father’s caretaker.
According to her friend Kayla Elliot, “The loss has been heartbreaking for everyone who knew and loved her. … Her children and family meant everything to her, and the love she had for them was obvious in everything she did.”
A GoFundMe page set up to support her children describes Hill as the family’s primary breadwinner who worked seven days a week. She was in the process of trying to buy a vehicle to take her father to his doctor’s appointments.
According to court documents obtained by WLWT, there was a warrant out for Wright’s arrest after he violated probation from a February 2025 assault charge. Sarah McMahon of the Hamilton County Prosector’s Office told the outlet that Wright’s criminal history includes convictions for assault, menacing, robbery, trafficking drugs, and carrying a concealed weapon.
At his first court appearance on June 3, Wright was ordered held without bond until his detention hearing on June 5, WLWT reports.
